   The interior is so cool. You can also sit outside. Great place to people watch and have a martini. The interior remains in a period old world charm.

   The atmosphere is old world elegant. Comfortable booths, cloth napkins.
   We had brunch here Sunday before our trip home. It was superb. Northwest Rainbow trout done perfectly, nicely done home-style potatoes, perfect eggs Benedict. I wish we had tried them for dinner but we did get two coupons for dinner next time we're in Portland. Upstairs is the Governor Hotel so the location was perfect for us.

   Anniversary Dinner

   We made a reservation at Jake's for dinner, mentioning that we would be celebrating our 28th anniversary. When we were seated, we were given personalized menus that said "Happy Anniversary" on them! We generally share an entree, and Jake's was more than accommodating... by splitting the Chicken Oscar (highly recommended) for us on two separate plates at no extra charge. Toward the end of our meal, we were served a slice of flourless chocolate torte -- on the house -- which was beautifully presented. (See photo.) We genuinely enjoy the ambience at Jake's, and have never been disappointed with their food or service. We hope to go again soon!

   Great food and atmosphere

   We found this place within walking distance of Powell's bookstore. It was open on Sunday and had a variety of food that would appeal to many tastes. The service was prompt and the high-ceilings and wood paneling add to the ambience. Also be sure to try the deserts, they are wonderful.
