  1. Chic Dump is more than meets the eye

If you’re a fan of meat and potatoes, drive on out to the Chic Dump. (A couple years ago, the sign lights went out in the “ken” and “lings”—perhaps as a marketing ploy—but however it happened, I will always remember this Oregon icon as the “Chic Dump”.) Don’t let my term of endearment dissuade you from coming to this fine on-the-river establishment. Tad’s boasts incredible comfort food at affordable prices, while overlooking the serene Sandy River. A mere 20 minutes outside of Portland, this Troutdale treasure is a wonderful escape from busy city life, but close enough to make it back for your most valued beauty sleep.

Instead of their signature dish, I went for the chicken vegetable fettuccine with alfredo sauce—an excellent choice. Filled with various fresh vegetables and a rich, creamy sauce, I could barely finish half and had more than enough left over for the next day. I was able to swipe a morsel of my friend’s Chicken and Dumplings, and can understand why it became Tad’s signature. (It will be my choice the next time around.)

If you do decide to make the mini trek out to Tad’s, chances are you’ll be pleasantly surprised and might even join me (and plenty of other fans) by sporting their ready to purchase “Tad’s Chic(ken) and Dump(lings)” t-shirt. A $15 investment that’s sure to be the life of any party.
