Portland offers one of the nation’s most progressive bicycle transportation programs, boasting hundreds of miles of bikeways and bike-friendly buses and trains. Portland was the first large city to receive a platinum-level award from The League of American Bicyclists for bike friendliness. Bike rentals are available downtown (www.waterfrontbikes.net) and near trail-filled Forest Park (www.fattirefarm.com).
