  1. River Rafting Trip

The Clackamas River and surrounding area is a great place to go to enjoy the great outdoors. A popular thing to do is go floating down the river in an intertube, but it can be dangerous. Here are some tips that will make for an enjoyable experience. First of all, never go alone. Also, you'll need two cars: one parked at the bottom of the river and one parked at the top (the fee is $3.00 per vehicle). It's also a good idea to check out the area where you'll be ending your trip before you head up the river. Pick out a landmark or just get familiar with the area so you don't miss your exit. Here's an important one: wear aquasocks or some sort of waterproof shoes. Flip flops are not acceptable because they will fall off your feet and go floating down the river without you.

The most mportant thing is safety and I've found that it's a good idea to take a paddle with you, even if you're not in a raft or kayak. The current can be strong in some parts and a paddle can sometimes help you out of the sticky situation. It's also a good idea to wear a life jacket even though it might mess up your tan line...which brings up another important tip: apply tons of sunscreen!
