Bring on the breakfast carbo load!

Down home comfort food was just renamed "Kenny and Zukes". I brought my New York friends to this cozy establishment for one last Portland food hurrah before their departure back east, and the meal certainly did not disappoint.

Meat dishes are more often than not my breakfast of choice, but I decided to change it up and go for the Challah French Toast. I've found the next candidate for my newest breakfast love. Thick and fluffy bread with creamy and delicious maple syrup, this toast won my heart from the get go. I rarely finish French Toast or pancakes, but my meal left me practically licking the plate. Ok, maybe literally.

If you can, make sure to set a reservation and save yourself the 30-45 minute wait. Then again, there are few worse things in the world than missing the opportunity to savor K&Z's.

Breakfast of champions

After a night out on the town last weekend, we moseyed down from our suite at the Mark Spencer Hotel to have a late breakfast at Kenny and Zuke's. Totally yummy!

I ordered a basic breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast, and everything was delicious! The tea water was hot enough, too, which is always an important ingredient of a satisfactory breakfast for me.

It was worth the wait for a table!

Best of both coasts

New York style deli serving local beer with friendly, attentive service I come to expect in Portland. Honestly, you cannot go wrong when ordering from this menu- from the lox to the pastrami and the fresh baked bread and homemade soups, I am getting hungry just writing this review. Do not skimp on dessert either, the brownies are perfect and the vegan chocolate cake is absolutely sinful. As a non-vegan I was slightly skeptical of this cake but it exceeded all of my expectations and I take my sweet treats very seriously. Everyone that I have ever been to Kenny and Zuke's with cannot stop talking about it and immediately shares their experience with others. It is truly worth all of the praise, perfect comfort food.
