Coral Reef Votives Design: Lilach Lotan, Canada, $135

Inspired by the undersea world, the forms of these votives recall the various spikes, tubes, and funnels of a coral reef. Handcrafted by the artist in unglazed white porcelain, their translucent quality allows a candle’s light to pass through the material itself to provide an overall glow, while the open ended shapes pass the light directly creating patterns and shadows. When unlit, the votives function as mini-sculptures with a surprising richness and complexity. Lotan is an award winning ceramic artist living in British Columbia, Canada.
