Farm Café10 SE 7th AvePortland, Oregon |
If you suddenly realize that you haven't had dinner and it's after 9 pm, and you still want to get a great vegetarian meal at this late hour, the Farm will be there to save you. It will also pleasantly surprise. I had Herb Crusted Tofu with Mushrooms Marsala, and really liked it. The menu describes it as breaded and herbed tofu cutlets with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and crimini mushroom Marsala. Mashed potatoes and mushrooms made my evening (and believe me, I'm an expert in potatoes!). In addition to great vegetarian options, Farm has a very relaxing romantic atmosphere. I will definitely come again.

Veritable Quandary1220 SW 1st AvePortland, Oregon |
We live in Springfield -- about two hours south of Portland -- and my daughter had heard good things about Veritable Quandary... so when we were in Portland earlier this month (July '08) we decided to check out their breakfast offerings. It was a beautiful summer day, and we were immediately greeted, and then seated in their courtyard/patio area... which has a very pleasant, flower-filled, garden-like setting. The architecture and windows of the building added to the European-type feel of the courtyard/patio. Their breakfast menu presented a variety of tempting options... My husband selected the King's Choice, which he was very happy with, I chose their Eggs Benedict with crab and asparagus (highly recommended), and our daugher had the French toast. We shared bites to experience each others' choices, and no-one was disappointed. The service was wonderful, our water glasses were kept full, and our wait-people were friendly and smiling. We would go there again... for breakfast, or to try dinner! |
